Brute Force
As 1940 dawned, France, their British allies, and the Low Countries had more tanks, artillery, and infantry among them than Germany, as well as having no hostile neighbors at their backs. The Maginot Line was impregnable, and the forests of the Ardennes were too dense for mechanized forces.
At 1630 hours on 9 May 1940 General Guderian and the 1st
Panzer Division ended the "phony war" by crossing the Luxembourg frontier. No one expected this to be a four-week romp like Poland, but the ease with which the German forces moved through France on their drive to the Channel surprised everyone.
It would take the full industrial might of the United States behind a multi-national Allied Force to take Western Europe back by brute force.
Brute Force highlights three pivotal campaings from the West Front: Norway, the 1940 Blitzkrieg in the West, and Operation Overlord. In each, both commanders are faced with numerous operational decisions. Proper allocation of the limited air and naval support is just as important as deciding manpower assignments. Both sides have opportunities to make numerous decisions affecting the outcome of the campaign.
For the Allied commander, deciding where and when to commit the small but powerful BEF in 1940 is a choice as difficult as that facing the Axis commander concern ing his limited panzer forces in 1944.
Brute Force provides all of this within the framework of a tested strategic simulation and a playable game. Are you ready to change history by stopping the German juggernaut or throwing back the Allied Invasion on D-Day?
